| Obverse description | Stylized depiction of the fortified walls and twin-spired gateway of Luxembourg City dominating the central field, with the Luxembourgish coat of arms — a quartered shield bearing lions and horizontal bands — displayed at center base. Twelve five-pointed stars arc across the upper field, evoking the European Community emblem. The Luxembourgish country name LËTZEBUERG is inscribed horizontally across the middle of the design, with the denomination numeral 5 to the lower left and ECU to the lower right flanking the shield. The date 1994 is split as 19 and 94 to the right of the shield, and the Brussels mint mark appears in the lower left field. |
