Obverse description Central design featuring a stylized depiction of Luxembourg City's fortifications, with crenellated walls and a prominent church spire rising above the gatehouse. The Luxembourgish coat of arms, displaying a quartered shield with rampant lions, is placed at the lower center beneath the gateway arch. Twelve five-pointed stars arc across the upper field in reference to the European Community. The country name LËTZEBUERG is inscribed across the middle of the fortification, with the denomination 5 to the left and ECU to the right, and the split date 19 / 93 at the lower right.
