Obverse description Central device depicts a large three-masted Swedish warship of the early 17th century under full sail, rendered in fine relief against a plain field, with stylized waves below the hull. The curved legend along the upper periphery reads SCHWEDEN · SUEDE · SVERIGE · SWEDEN · SVEZIA, naming Sweden in five European languages. The denomination 5 ECU appears in two lines at the bottom of the field beneath the ship.

Reverse description Facing bust of King Gustav II Adolf (Gustavus Adolphus, 1594–1632) depicted in high relief at center, wearing an ornate period doublet decorated with floral rosettes and a beaded chain. The king is shown with a short beard and moustache characteristic of his well-known portraits. The circular legend GUSTAVUS ADOLPHUS · 1594 · 1632 runs along the upper periphery, flanked by dots, while the Latin motto – ILLE FACIET – appears along the lower border. The mint date 1992 is inscribed to the left of the bust in the field.
