Obverse description Central field depicts a finely modelled relief of the Holy Family: a bearded Joseph at left and the Virgin Mary at right, both draped in flowing robes, jointly cradling the infant Jesus between them in a tender nativity scene. The composition is rendered in high relief with expressive sculptural detail. Surrounding the central device, the country name appears in Switzerland's four official languages — SCHWEIZ, SUISSE, SVIZZERA, and SVIZRA — distributed around the periphery, separated by small five-pointed stars. The engraver's signature 'André Erni' appears in cursive script at the lower centre of the field.
