Obverse description The upper portion of the obverse features the crowned arms of Toruń — a shield divided into quarters displaying city towers and walls — supported by a winged angel (cherub) above, all flanked by elaborate symmetrical foliate and acanthus scrollwork with small rosette ornaments. Below the arms, the field is entirely occupied by a multi-line Latin inscription in bold relief lettering recounting the hostile siege and divine deliverance of the city, dated 16 February 1629, with the mint-master's initials H·L at the base. The whole design is enclosed within a fine dotted inner border and a beaded outer border.
