| Obverse description | Central field displays the elaborate quartered coat of arms of the Archbishopric of Salzburg, surmounted by a broad-brimmed ecclesiastical hat (galero) with pendant tasseled cords on either side, the shield incorporating the crossed keys and orb of Salzburg. Above the arms, a radiant triangle bearing the inscription DEO at its center, flanked by the words FVNDATORI, AVCTORI, and CONSERVATORI arranged in a semicircle, with FVNDATORI and PRO GRATIA GRATIÆ appearing below the triangle. The date 1682 is divided at either side of the coat of arms. A continuous Latin legend encircles the entire design, reading the titles and name of Archbishop Max Gandolf von Kuenburg, commemorating the eleven-hundredth anniversary of the foundation of the Archbishopric of Salzburg. |
