Obverse description Armored and draped half-length effigy of Elector Frederick William of Brandenburg-Prussia facing right, wearing an electoral cap and a richly jeweled cuirass with fur-trimmed mantle, holding a scepter in his right hand. The portrait is rendered in a bold, high-relief hammered style characteristic of mid-seventeenth-century German goldsmith work. The figure is contained within a plain inner circle, against a flat field. The surrounding legend in Latin reads FRIDE WILHEL D G MAR BRAN SAC ROM IMP, abbreviated from Fridericus Wilhelmus Dei Gratia Marchio Brandenburgensis Sacri Romani Imperii, distributed around the full circumference.
