Obverse description The national coat of arms of the Republic of Palau is centrally displayed within a shield-shaped cartouche, depicting Neptune astride a sea turtle and a mermaid figure amid ocean waves, with a traditional Palauan canoe above. The legend REPUBLIC OF PALAU arcs along the upper rim, flanked by five-pointed stars. The motto RAINBOW'S END appears on a scroll at the base of the shield. The denomination 5$ is inscribed in the lower field. The coin features a distinctive curved cutout element on the right side of the design.

Additional information

Palau's wildlife and lunar series coins are struck under license arrangements that route production through the Bavarian State Mint or comparable European facilities, with the Pacific island nation's nominal issuing authority existing largely for collector-market positioning rather than any domestic monetary function. The Year of the Tiger cycle completed in 2022 is the third such 60-year recurrence since Palau began issuing commemorative coinage in the 1990s.
