| Obverse description | The obverse features the coat of arms of the Republic of Palau rendered in high relief at center, depicting a shield with a maritime scene showing a crowned Neptune figure holding a trident, accompanied by a mermaid, a treasure chest, and ocean waves. Above the shield, a traditional Palauan outrigger canoe with a paddler appears in the upper field. Eight six-pointed stars are arranged symmetrically in the field on either side of the shield. The curved legend REPUBLIC OF PALAU arcs along the upper rim, while the program title RAINBOW'S END appears at the base of the shield, and the denomination 5$ is inscribed below in the lower field. |
