| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Palau occupies the central field, depicted as a shield bearing a seated Neptune figure holding a trident, accompanied by a mermaid, with a treasure chest and marine elements in the waves below, and a star above; the shield is framed by an ornate floral and beaded border with the inscription RAINBOW'S END at its base. Above the shield, a traditional outrigger canoe with a paddler is rendered in high relief against the mirror-polished field. The legend REPUBLIC OF PALAU curves along the upper periphery, flanked on each side by a row of five-pointed stars. The denomination 5$ appears in the lower exergue. |
