| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Liberia occupies the central field, depicting a sailing ship at sea with a palm tree and rising sun on the shore, a dove in flight above, a plow and shovel in the foreground, and a scroll bearing the national motto 'THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE' arching across the shield. The date 2001 is divided to either side of the arms, with '20' to the left and '01' to the right. The outer legend 'REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA' arcs along the upper periphery, while a secondary inscription 'REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA' appears on a scroll at the base of the arms. The design is executed in a milled field with a reeded border. |
