Barbados has issued novelty collector pieces before, but this 2023 entry is among the more technically involved — the selective gold plating targets only the inlay groove pattern, requiring precise masking during the plating process to keep the silver field clean. The grooves are functional in the sense that they mirror actual vinyl record geometry, though no needle has ever successfully played one.
KM#413 is struck under license through a private mint partnership, as the Central Bank of Barbados does not operate its own minting facility.
