| Additional information |
The USS United States (SS United States) held the Blue Riband for the fastest transatlantic crossing by an ocean liner — a record set in July 1952 that has never been broken by a passenger vessel. She crossed in three days, ten hours, and forty minutes, averaging over 34 knots. The Marshall Islands issued numerous commemorative rounds throughout the 1990s targeting the collector market, and this piece belongs to that series of maritime subjects.
