| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Samoa occupies the central field, featuring a quartered shield displaying a coconut palm and the Southern Cross constellation of five stars, set against a globe and encircled by olive branches. A Christian cross surmounts the shield at the apex. A ribbon banner below the shield bears the national motto in the legend. The issuer name SAMOA appears in the upper field, with the denomination 5 DOLLARS, the silver purity 3 oz Ag 999, and the date 2023 inscribed in the lower field. The entire design is struck in antique finish, framed by a distinctive gold-plated ring edge. |

Issued under license from Warner Bros. and produced by the Royal Canadian Mint on behalf of Samoa, this piece belongs to a wave of Middle-earth themed legal tender that accelerated sharply after the Amazon series *The Rings of Power* entered production. Samoa has no meaningful numismatic tradition of its own and functions here purely as an issuing authority of convenience, a common arrangement in the collector bullion market.
The selective edge gilding is the technical note worth retaining: applying gold plating only to the rim requires a masking process during electroplating rather than a full-surface application.
