Obverse description Central circular medallion bearing the right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, diademed and draped, after the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait. The legend ELIZABETH II flanks the effigy on the left, and FIVE DOLLARS on the right, with NIUE positioned above at the top of the beaded inner border. The date 2015 appears below the portrait within the medallion, and the inscriptions 70 g and 999 FINE SILVER are engraved in the lower portion of the rectangular field outside the medallion. The overall field of the rectangular flan is given a brushed matte finish, contrasting with the polished relief of the central medallion.

Reverse description The reverse reproduces Gustav Klimt's celebrated painting 'The Kiss' (1907–1908) rendered in gold finishing across the rectangular flan. The composition depicts two embracing figures draped in richly ornamented robes, their forms interlocked in an intimate gesture characteristic of Klimt's Vienna Secession style. The surface treatment employs an iridescent gold coloring that evokes the gilded Byzantine-inspired decorative patterns of the original masterwork. Swirling floral and geometric motifs fill the garments of both figures, faithful to Klimt's signature use of gold leaf and ornamental patterning. This piece is the ninth in a series of fifteen coins dedicated to Klimt's works.
