The depicted detail focuses on Adam's outstretched lower limb and hand, reclining against a dark rocky ground, faithfully reproducing the warm flesh tones and masterful anatomical rendering of the original Renaissance fresco. This piece constitutes the tenth panel of a twelve-part jigsaw series, designed so that the reverses of all twelve coins in the series combine to form the complete composition of the fresco. The rectangular format of the planchet is well suited to the reproduction of the panoramic fresco detail, with the colour image extending fully to the edges of the field. |
