Reverse description A bold three-quarter effigy of the Statue of Liberty dominates the field, rendered in high relief with her crown of seven radiating spikes and her right arm raised aloft bearing a flaming torch. The figure is draped in classical robes and faces left in profile, conveying a sense of monumental grandeur. Thirteen five-pointed stars are arranged in a ring around the inner periphery of the coin, evoking the original thirteen American colonies. The denomination legend 5 DOLLARS appears in prominent raised lettering along the lower exergue.
