Additional information

Liberia's commemorative program of the 2000s and early 2010s was prolific to the point of absurdity — the Central Bank licensed dozens of themed series targeting the collector market rather than domestic circulation, with subjects ranging from world leaders to film characters. Spartacus fits that pattern precisely. These pieces were never intended to pass through Liberian hands as currency.

The historical Spartacus led the Third Servile War against Rome from 73–71 BC before his defeat by Crassus near the Silarus River. His body was never recovered — a detail Roman commanders likely found deeply inconvenient.
