Additional information

Issued to mark the 125th anniversary of the Singapore Civil Defence Force's predecessor, the Singapore Fire Brigade, which traces its origins to 1888 when colonial authorities established a formal firefighting corps following a series of devastating fires in the shophouse districts of Chinatown and Boat Quay. The Brigade operated under British colonial administration until Singapore's independence, after which it was progressively restructured into the Civil Defence Force by 1982.

The .925 silver strikes were produced in proof and brilliant uncirculated finishes; the KM#70a designation distinguishes the silver issue from a accompanying base-metal version released the same year.
