| Obverse description | The central device displays the coat of arms of the Republic of Palau: a shield depicting a crowned Neptune-like figure seated amid waves, holding a trident, accompanied by a mermaid to his right and a treasure chest to his left, with a crescent moon and star above. The shield is flanked by floral and foliate ornamental supporters and surmounted by a traditional Palauan outrigger canoe. The inscription RAINBOW'S END appears within the lower portion of the shield. Eight six-pointed stars are arranged around the inner border. The legend REPUBLIC OF PALAU arcs along the upper periphery, and the denomination 5$ is inscribed at the base of the field. |
