| Obverse description | The obverse displays the coat of arms of the Republic of Palau in high relief at center, depicting a male figure seated on rocks holding a trident and a mermaid flanking him amid stylized waves, surmounted by a crescent moon and an eight-pointed star, all within an ornate shield bordered by floral motifs. Above the shield, a traditional Palauan outrigger canoe with a figure paddling appears at the top of the field. The curved legend REPUBLIC OF PALAU arcs along the upper rim, flanked on each side by a ring of six small five-pointed stars. The denomination 5$ is inscribed at the bottom of the field, and the motto RAINBOW'S END appears within the lower portion of the shield. |
