| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of the Republic of Liberia occupies the central field, depicting a three-masted sailing vessel at sea, a palm tree, and a rising sun, above a plow and a dove in flight, all within a shield surmounted by a scroll bearing the motto THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE. The legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA arcs along the upper periphery, with a second inscription REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA appearing on a ribbon scroll below the shield.
