| Obverse description | The obverse displays the full coat of arms of Fiji in the central field, flanked by two traditional Fijian warriors serving as supporters — the dexter supporter holding a spear and the sinister supporter holding a palm frond. Above the shield, a British lion is depicted atop a canoe with a sail. A scroll beneath the shield bears the Fijian national motto 'Rerevaka na Kalou ka doka na Tui' (Fear God and honour the King/Queen). The legend 'FIJI · 2018' arcs along the upper periphery, while '5 DOLLARS' appears at the base, and '1 TROY OZ' and '.9999 FINE GOLD' flank the central device on left and right respectively.
