Obverse description A couchant lion facing left occupies the central field, rendered in fine detail with a full mane and forelegs extended forward. Surrounding the lion is a circular legend in Deseret script characters, arranged along the full periphery of the coin. The date 1860 appears in large numerals in the lower exergue beneath the lion. A fine beaded border frames the entire design.
