| Obverse description | Left-facing draped bust of Liberty, her hair elaborately coiffed and bound with a coronet inscribed MOFFAT & Co. Thirteen six-pointed stars are evenly distributed around the periphery of the field. The date appears prominently in the lower exergue. The engraving, attributed to Ferdinand Kuner, closely follows the style of the Liberty Head type used by the United States Mint during this period. |
