| Obverse description | Central field bears the coat of arms of Liberia, depicting a sailing ship at sea with a rising sun, a palm tree, a dove with an olive branch, a plough, and a shovel on a shield, flanked by decorative supporters. A scroll beneath the shield carries the legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA, with the motto THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE on a ribbon above. The date 2006 is split by the coat of arms in the lower field, with the denomination 5 DOLLARS inscribed along the lower rim.
