| Obverse description | The coat of arms of the Republic of Palau occupies the central field within a shield-shaped cartouche, depicting a traditional figure of a sea god holding a trident, seated beside a mermaid, with a treasure chest to the left and a crescent moon and star above; the motto RAINBOW'S END appears in the lower portion of the shield. A traditional Palauan canoe with a figure is shown above the shield. Eight five-pointed stars are arranged symmetrically around the periphery of the field. The circular legend REPUBLIC OF PALAU runs along the upper rim, and the denomination 5$ is inscribed at the bottom of the field. |
