Hutt River Province — the micronation declared by Leonard Casley in 1970 after a dispute with the Western Australian government over wheat production quotas — issued a remarkable volume of commemorative coinage through the 1980s and 1990s, much of it with no plausible circulation purpose. This piece marks Casley's 1992 visit to the Marshall Islands, which he undertook partly as a diplomatic exercise to seek international recognition for his self-declared principality. The Marshall Islands government did not extend that recognition.
