Obverse description The national coat of arms of Belize occupies the central field, depicted in high relief and flanked by two human supporters standing upon a wreath of olive branches that encircles the entire device. The shield bears a sailing ship in the lower portion and crossed tools in the upper quarters, surmounted by a mahogany tree. A ribbon scroll at the base of the arms carries the national motto SUB UMBRA FLOREO. The country name BELIZE arcs along the upper legend within a beaded border, and the date 1985 appears in the lower field beneath the wreath.
