The effigy is rendered in high relief with fine detailing characteristic of commemorative coinage. The legend JACKIE ROBINSON and LIBERTY appear within the field, alongside the motto IN GOD WE TRUST and the date 1997. The mint mark W, denoting the West Point Mint, is also present on the obverse.
