| Reverse description | The central field features a large full-color photographic insert depicting a hanging ecclesiastical thurible (incense burner) suspended by chains before a stone column of a gothic or romanesque church interior, rendered in warm amber and golden tones. To the right of the color insert, a sculpted relief in silver depicts the stonework of a vaulted arch, extending the architectural setting into the minted surface. The word INCENSE appears within the color panel. The curved legend SCENT OF PARADISE arcs along the left rim, and the date 2011 appears to the left of the color insert in the field. |

| Additional information |
Palau's "Scents of Paradise" series, of which this is a part, embedded actual aromatic compounds into the coin's surface — a genuine novelty in modern numismatics that required collaboration between the mint and fragrance manufacturers to achieve a scent that would survive handling and storage. Whether it does, over the long term, remains an open question among collectors a decade on.
