Obverse description Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II as portrayed at age 77, rendered by engraver Susan Taylor, depicting the Queen bare-headed and wearing a necklace and earrings. The portrait is accompanied by a commemorative double-date inscription reading '1952' and '2022', separated by four pearls arranged in a horizontal sequence, symbolising the four successive royal effigies that appeared on Canadian coinage throughout Her Majesty's reign. The face value '5 DOLLARS' and the date '2023' appear in the legend surrounding the effigy. The legend 'ELIZABETH II' arcs above the portrait within the coin's field.
