Additional information

Liberia's long-running History of Railroads series, produced through licensing arrangements with private minting firms rather than any domestic coinage infrastructure, targeted the international collector market almost exclusively. The SY class was a Chinese steam locomotive built from the 1960s through the 1990s — one of the last mass-produced steam designs anywhere in the world, used heavily in industrial and mining operations well into the 2000s.

China retired its last revenue steam operations on national railways around 2005, though SY locomotives continued working in collieries for years afterward.
