Additional information

Issued to mark the 25th anniversary of the Brunei Currency Board, which was established in 1967 following Brunei's withdrawal from the Malayan dollar currency union. That departure gave Brunei independent monetary management — a significant step for a sultanate that would not achieve full independence from Britain until 1984. The Currency Interchangeability Agreement with Singapore and Brunei, still active today, means the Brunei dollar has traded at parity with the Singapore dollar since the board's founding year.
