Obverse description The obverse bears the official Seal of the Republic of the Marshall Islands rendered in high relief at center, depicting a frigatebird with outstretched wings above a traditional Marshallese stick chart navigation device, flanked by symbolic imagery including a sun with radiating rays, palm trees, and a traditional outrigger canoe sail. The entire design is encircled by a decorative chain border. The legend REPUBLIC OF THE MARSHALL ISLANDS arcs along the upper periphery, while the Marshallese national motto JEPILPILIN KE EJUKAAN is inscribed along the lower periphery. The denomination $5 and date 1995 also appear on this face.
