Additional information

Palau has operated a prolific commemorative program since the 1990s, licensing its sovereign minting rights to European producers — primarily the Austrian Mint and various German houses — to issue collector pieces with no meaningful domestic circulation. This coin is one of hundreds in that pipeline, produced for the international numismatic gift market rather than any connection between Palau and the subject matter.

The Empire State Building was completed in April 1931, fourteen months ahead of schedule, largely because the Depression had collapsed labor costs and construction unions were in no position to resist aggressive timelines.
