Obverse description Effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, after the fourth portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley, wearing a tiara and earrings, with the engraver's initials IRB incused below the truncation. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the upper left periphery and TOKELAU along the upper right, with the date 2014 descending on the right. Below the effigy, at center field, appears the Tokelau coat of arms depicted as a traditional upe basket with a cross motif, accompanied by a ribbon scroll inscribed TOKELAU MO TE ATUA. The denomination legend ~ Five Dollars - 1 oz 999 Silver ~ curves along the lower periphery, flanked by decorative tildes, with small bullet points at either side of the field.

Reverse description Two horses rendered in high relief and selectively gilded dominate the composition against a mirror-polished silver field. A mature horse stands prominently on the right, facing left with head turned toward the viewer, its muscular body fully gilded. A foal, also gilded, is depicted in the lower left, lowering its head amid stylized grass and foliage rendered in ungilded silver relief. The date 2014 appears in the left field within a rectangular cartouche with rounded corners. The overall design commemorates the Chinese Lunar Year of the Horse.
