The "Vivat Regina" series was issued to mark the 90th birthday of Elizabeth II in 2016, the year she also surpassed Queen Victoria as Britain's longest-reigning monarch. This piece is the first of six in the set, designed to interlock — each coin forms one segment of a larger composite image when the series is assembled complete.
Solomon Islands has long served as an issuing authority for commemorative silver aimed squarely at the collector market, with little pretense of domestic circulation. The KM# 661 assignment confirms it entered the standard catalog, though surviving examples almost universally appear in original mint packaging.
