| Reverse description | On this kite-shaped proof flan, the reverse features a gilt high-relief depiction of the Christ the Redeemer statue (Cristo Redentor) of Rio de Janeiro, arms outstretched, occupying the upper central field against a darkened background. To the lower right, a detailed portrait of Pope Benedict XVI is shown in three-quarter view, vested in papal robes and holding a rosary. Three inset Swarovski crystal gemstones in green, yellow, and blue — arranged vertically in a cross-like pattern to the left — add a distinctive decorative element. The legend 'BENEDICTUS P.P. XVI IN BRASILIAM' arcs along the left border, and the date '2007' appears along the lower right edge. |

| Additional information |
Pope Benedict XVI's visit to Brazil in May 2007 was his first papal trip to Latin America and included the opening of the Fifth General Conference of Latin American and Caribbean Bishops in Aparecida — a gathering that produced a document later cited heavily by Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio, who would become his successor six years later.
