| Obverse description | Diademed and draped effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right occupies the central field, surrounded by a decorative geometric band with Celtic-style interlace motifs. An outer annular border is divided into twelve segments, each containing an engraved zodiac symbol with its Latin name and a corresponding Cyrillic element designation (воздух, вода, огонь, земля). Below the portrait appears the Tokelau national flag in relief within a rectangular cartouche, flanked by the mint mark (ММД) and the engraver's initials (IRB). The legend ELIZABETH II – TOKELAU 2012 arcs around the portrait, with AG925 and FIVE DOLLARS inscribed in the lower field. |

| Additional information |
Tokelau's coin program exists almost entirely as a revenue mechanism — the territory has no independent monetary policy and uses the New Zealand dollar in daily life. These silver issues are struck by the New Zealand Mint on behalf of the Tokelau government, with proceeds contributing to one of the few income streams available to a territory of fewer than 1,500 people spread across three atolls in the central Pacific.
The Virgo issue is part of a twelve-coin zodiac series released across 2012, each sharing the same KM series block and differing only by astrological subject.
