Additional information

This is a bullion-adjacent collector issue from Niue, which licenses its sovereignty to a rotating roster of commemorative programs — the sunflower design references Van Gogh's 1888 series of paintings, executed in Arles during a period of intense productivity preceding his mental collapse. The Twelve Sunflowers canvas now hangs in the National Gallery, London, having been acquired in 1924.

Niue has issued hundreds of such themed coins under agreements that generate revenue for the island territory, whose permanent population sits under 2,000.
