This piece belongs to the Royal Canadian Mint's long-running series of tribute issues produced in the years surrounding Elizabeth II's death in September 2022, a period that generated an unusual volume of commemorative silver from Commonwealth mints racing to mark the end of a 70-year reign. The RCM had maintained an unbroken relationship with her effigy since 1953, cycling through six distinct portrait generations — more than any other Commonwealth issuer.
