The Rising Sun series from Perth Mint draws on the Australian Army's most recognizable insignia, worn since the Boer War and carried through Gallipoli, the Western Front, and every major conflict since. The felt hat badge that inspired the design became so culturally embedded that attempts to modify it — most recently debated in the 1980s — were abandoned in the face of veteran opposition fierce enough to kill the proposal outright.
At 155.5 grams of .9999 fine silver, this is a five-troy-ounce strike, a format Perth has used to anchor several prestige series since the 2010s.
