Reverse description Intricately detailed high-relief composition depicting Odysseus's slaughter of the suitors upon his return to Ithaca, set within a columned Greek palace interior. At left, a muscular Odysseus is shown from behind, drawing a great bow; at right, a fully armed warrior in a Corinthian helmet wields a spear and bears a round shield adorned with an owl, emblem of Athena. Multiple suitors are shown in various states of combat and defeat across a tiled floor strewn with scattered vessels, a lyre, and weapons. A classical coin medallion bearing a helmeted head appears at lower left, and a second medallion with the owl of Athena at lower right. The entire scene is framed by an ornate border of Greek meander patterns and spiral scrollwork, within which the curved legend THE ADVENTURES OF ODYSSEUS arcs along the upper border and THE RETURN along the lower border, both rendered in stylised archaic lettering.
