| Obverse description | Central raised inner circle bears the right-facing diademed and crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II after the portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley, whose initials IRB appear below the truncation. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs above the effigy within the inner border, while NIUE ISLAND and the date 2022 arc along the upper rim of the outer field, and FIVE DOLLARS arcs along the lower rim. The fineness mark Ag 999 appears to the right of the portrait within the inner circle. The broad outer border is decorated with an elaborate antiqued relief of swirling scrollwork and foliate ornament, rendered in high relief against a textured field. |
