Cook Islands built a substantial mint-revenue program in the 2000s by licensing iconic imagery for small-denomination bullion and commemorative issues, and this piece is squarely part of that commercial output. The St. George design used here derives ultimately from Benedetto Pistrucci's work for the Royal Mint — though Cook Islands held no particular historical claim to it, the image carried enough global recognition to sell.
