Additional information

Niue's commemorative coinage of the 1990s was produced almost entirely under licensing arrangements with foreign minting houses, with the island's government collecting royalties while exercising minimal editorial control over subject matter. The Queen's Golden Wedding anniversary in 1997 — marking fifty years of marriage to Prince Philip — prompted a wave of issues across Commonwealth and associated territories, most struck to near-identical specifications.

KM#145 is one of dozens of functionally interchangeable pieces from this commemorative flood.
