| Obverse description | Right-facing draped bust effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, as sculpted by Ian Rank-Broadley, occupying the central field. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left rim and COOK ISLANDS 5 DOLLARS along the right rim, with the date 2017 positioned in the lower exergue. The engraver's initials IRB appear below the truncation of the bust. The overall style reflects the fourth definitive portrait of the Queen used on Commonwealth coinage from 1998 onward. |
