| Additional information |
Saint Seraphim of Sarov, canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church in 1903 in a ceremony attended by Tsar Nicholas II himself, is among the most venerated figures in modern Orthodox Christianity. Cook Islands has issued a substantial number of silver devotional pieces aimed squarely at the Russian collector market, where demand for sanctioned religious imagery on bullion-adjacent coin formats has been commercially reliable since the early 2000s.
KM#2088 is one of dozens of similar issues from this program. The Cook Islands issuing authority here is nominal — production and distribution were handled through European minting intermediaries.
