| Obverse description | Right-facing draped bust of Queen Elizabeth II, engraved after the effigy designed by Susan Taylor, wearing a pearl necklace and with hair arranged in an upswept coiffure. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left periphery and D•G• REGINA along the right, all in raised Latin lettering. A fine beaded border encircles the entire design, framing the portrait against a deeply mirrored proof field. The effigy is rendered with considerable sculptural relief, consistent with the mature portrait adopted by the Royal Canadian Mint for this period. |

| Reverse description | The central device features a selectively gold-plated circular medallion bearing the entwined royal cipher of William and Catherine (W and C) surmounted by a crown, flanked on either side by gold-plated maple leaf sprigs. Surrounding this central medallion, arranged in a ring across the mirror-polished field, are numerous finely struck miniature motifs associated with infancy and childhood, including a pram, rocking horse, rubber duck, teddy bear, unicorn, rattle, alphabet blocks, milk bottle, cradle, and stars, among others. The inscription CANADA arcs along the upper portion of the field, while 5 DOLLARS 2013 is inscribed along the lower arc, all in raised Latin lettering. The overall design commemorates the birth of Prince George of Cambridge in 2013. A beaded border frames the entire composition. |
